No. Haylage can be suitable for all horses and ponies from those at rest up to those in hard work. As the grass matures it rapidly loses protein and increases in fibre which means that timing of cutting needs to be made with the end use of the haylage in mind. We always wait until the reached a level of maturity that will make a low energy / high fibre haylage.

Which areas do you deliver to?

We can deliver to most of West Kent and some of East Sussex. Please visit our Delivery page for more information.

How long will the bales keep once opened?

Approximately 7 days, but can be less in hot weather and much longer in very cold weather.

Do I need to be around when you deliver?

No. Provided we have access to the area where you would like the bales we can unload by ourselves however due to their weight they really need 2 or more people to move them any distance therefore without help we may not be able to move them much further than where they drop off the trailer.

Can I store the bales outside?

Yes. Our bales are completely sealed so are fine to store outside, indeed the bales will come from an outside stack at our farm. You must however ensure that the bale wrap cannot be damaged by birds, cats, rodents etc. as once the wrap is pierced the bale will begin to spoil. Regrettably we cannot be liable for mouldy bales resulting from damage caused at your yard.

Please allow up to 10 days for delivery, however most of the time we will be able to deliver a lot quicker than this, but at certain times of the year we can be very busy on the farm. If you are in a particular hurry please do contact us before ordering and we will try and accommodate.

Can I collect from you?

For various reasons but in particular the unpredictability of farming we are cannot always say when we will be at the farm therefore we do prefer to deliver.
